TSMP Goals to 2010

To grow all Salvationists as dynamic disciples

To increase the number of new soldiers

To take significant steps towards the eradication of poverty in New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga

To be a connected, streamlined, mission-focused Army

How will we grow all Salvationists as dynamic disciples and how will we increase the number of new soldiers?

  1. By empowering leadership at all levels (because discipleship by its very nature requires an empowering leader).
  2. By continual passionate vision casting about the dynamic discipleship aspects of soldiership.
  3. By training disciples.
  4. By reflecting on our progress.

How will we take significant steps towards the eradication of poverty in New Zealand?

  1. By developing a process that enables all Salvationists to engage in exploring the key questions of Salvationist mission in Aotearoa/New Zealand.
  2. By developing educational resources that can be used in answering the key missional questions that will engage the conversation of the Salvation Army in New Zealand.
  3. By establishing training for cadets, officers, soldiers and leadership that will give them the attitudes, spirituality, faith and skills to meet the Territorial Mission Plan.
  4. By developing a set of missional questions that become standard agenda items in the decision making procedures of boards and councils at headquarters and centre level decision.

How will we be a connected, streamlined, mission-focused Army?

A connected, streamlined mission focused Army:

• Responsibly lives within its means;
• Focuses its resources and assets for maximum impact on mission;
• Has ministries that are connected, supporting one another, seamless;
• Builds leaders skilled at empowering consistent delivery of mission outcomes;
• Is disciplined in its decision making about the focus of its work.
